Frank is feeling a bit under the weather in several ways, but even so he’s managed to put up an amusing post concerning dead horses which you should go read. Slightly off-topic, my own health issues are just pain-in-the-necky enough that I’m going to be closing registration for a little while, until such time as I am well and truly back in the saddle and can spend more time here. I expect it won’t be too long. Comments are, of... Read more

A while back I posted a piece suggesting that Ted Kennedy’s naming his water dog “Splash” showed a serious lack of self-awareness. Today I received an email from Martha, the woman who sold “Splash” to Ted Kennedy when the dog was three years old. She writes: …His official AKC name is Ch. Amigo’s Seventh Wave and Ted Kennedy purchased Splash from me when he was three years old. Splash is his call name and that was his call name when... Read more

My master bedroom has been under siege for over a year as my husband did all sorts of new windows/moulding/custom shelving/built-in drawers stuff. He does wonderful work, but between his 50-60 hours a week at his job, and his Scouting activities and the occasional need to watch a football game (which I do not mind) all projects begun in this household tend to take oh…ten times as long as they should. Finally we’re ready to paint! Got nifty shades of... Read more

No, really! My mailbox is overflowing with tests and people questioning things! Rep. Peter King asks the WH, Are you out of your freakin’ minds (believe me, he talks like that and this is why we love him!) Michelle Malkin has the round-up of people asking that question. Aside: Hey, even I jumped in here and called the White House and said, “Bad idea, Mr. President – BAD idea. VERY Bad! You can weigh in, too: White House Comments: 202-456-1111... Read more

Am I the only one offended by this? Maybe I am, but it’s really starting to pickle my nerves! I noted here that NBC seemed to be going out of its way to make sure that the end of each broadcast evening ended with ANY national anthem but our own. Candian anthems? Check. Russian anthems? Sure! But except for a chintzy 13 note anthem recap at the top of the re-broadcast, you can’t find a flower-holding American gold medalist standing... Read more

My poor, much-put-upon l’il bro Thom was a little nonplussed when I asked him to run over to the Catholic Blog Awards and vote for me, today. In the “political” category. “Egad,” writes back Thom, “EVERYDAY, I have to vote for you?” Like it’s a chore, or something. Sadly, he’d do it for Baby Stewie in a heartbeat. Please vote for me. Without rolling your eyes and sighing! :-) Read more

Gateway Pundit has links to a great chat between Hugh Hewitt and Helen Thomas (as transcribed by Radioblogger. Hugh asks Helen a question that demands a reasonable answer, and she cannot bring herself to answer it: HT: Do you care whether…do you care whether a president says there are weapons of mass destruction that can destroy you, destroy us in 45 minutes? HH: But Helen, did you think that he knew going in that they weren’t there? HT: Yes. HH:... Read more

I was feeling testy yesterday and – having read some article that called poor, bird-shot riddled Mr. Whittington a “millionaire Republican” – wrote to a “professional journalist” pal and asked him, “why is it that a wealthy Republican is always a ‘wealthy’ Republican or a ‘millionaire’ Republican, while a Democrat – no matter how filthy rich – is always simply a ‘Democrat.'” His answer: I dunno. A few hours later, he emailed back with this: I googled “wealthy democrats” and... Read more

Gateway Pundit directs our attention to three very exciting state tickets – and while it is noteworthy that in each case the candidate is African-American, what is more interesting is what they are saying (you know, content of their character stuff!) The Pennsylvania Republican State Committee on Saturday endorsed Lynn Swann for governor and by the sound of his acceptance speech you can see why he is well liked by Republicans: In his remarks to the state committee, Swann renewed... Read more
