Gerald has some serious thoughts about racism inspired by the coverage of the execution of Tookie Williams. Condi Rice, Colin Powell….they are called “Oreo” (and much worse, by lefties like Harry Belafonte)…”Tookie” Williams – the great hero. Or take rap/hip hop. Liberals usually pee themselves at the slightest notion of what they perceive to be sexism. But, the most vile spoutings of rappers, oh that’s authentic black culture one must suck up to. Liberal racial policies are supremely racist by... Read more

I haven’t written about Maureen Dowd in a dog’s age. She used to be fun to write about, because she was so deliciously whacked out, but increasingly, I found myself feeling badly for the woman and wanting to help her out. I toned down my words and really tried to convey what I thought was sympathetic advice, one Irish gal to another, especially back last Christmas, when she really sounded undone and rather heartbroken. She never seemed to take all... Read more

I cannot believe the Florida prosecutors are still attempting their fishing expedition…okay, I can believe it – the Dems want him off the air by 2007 at the latest, but today a judge ruled – quite correctly, I think – in favor of Doctor/Patient Confidentiality. It seems strange to me that any liberal would support what the prosecutor is trying to do – impose himself on a Doctor/Patient relationship without charges, without good cause – simply on a fishing trip.... Read more

I’m driving tonight and listening to the “all news” station in NYC. And what I am hearing is basically, that the founder of the Crips, on death row and hoping for a stay from the SCOTUS, is being talked about like he’s a saint. They talk about his founding of the gang, as though he’d founded the American Red Cross. Baldilocks has an extensive and well-written piece on the story. Leaving aside those who oppose the death penalty for moral/religious... Read more

A church that doesn’t provoke any crisis, a gospel that doesn’t unsettle, a Word of God that doesn’t get under anyone’s skin, what kind of gospel is that? Preachers who avoid every thorny matter so as not to be harassed do not light up the world! – Archbishop Oscar Romero I know some believe Romero was speaking, here to the non-progressives in the church, but I have always thought he could have been speaking just as easily to the numerous... Read more

Ed Morrissey has good commentary on the WaPo’s lovesong to Hillary. She is the only politician who is praised for going quiet and ducking out of the way whenever a tough issue arises, and then saying as little of substance as she possibly can, when she does finally speak. She is the only candidate in the world the press would let get away with a “listening tour.” He writes: If she has a plan for Iraq, this is the moment... Read more

ABC reports: Surprising levels of optimism prevail in Iraq with living conditions improved, security more a national worry than a local one, and expectations for the future high. Huh. Imagine that. In just three years, the Iraqis are taking to Democracy like ducks to water, the rest of the Middle East (whether covered or not) are wondering when they get their turn…and it’s all a big freaking surprise to a major organization charged with gathering and delivering information. And yet…so... Read more

At least that’s the conclusion that Dave Justus comes to in a well written and cleverly reasoned piece. I think Jesus would be torn. I think he’d appreciate that folks strapped for cash could get what they need at Wal-Mart, and I agree with Dave that he seems to be a non-union type…but for all that, I think he would be appalled to see the mindless commercialism and the “gotta have THAT” mentality that can run rampant when everything is... Read more

Today is a good day. It is one of my favorite Marian feast days, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is the woman from the Book of Revelation, Chapter 12, the “woman clothed with the sun, who stands upon the moon…she is pregnant…” Note, it’s a crescent moon. And it’s an important day for George W. Bush, too, because it was on this feastday that the Election debacle of 2000 finally ended. Good things seem to happen for... Read more
