My numbers were bad at the hematologist’s yesterday and he tried something new on me, which he said would help me be perky, but so far it’s just made me be head-achy and vomit-y. I’m trying to work through it. So far…blech. Read more

It’s a failed social and economic policy that has brought France to its unhappy state! Since the ’70s, America has created 57 million new jobs, compared with just four million in Europe (with most of those jobs in government). In France and much of Western Europe, the economic system is weighted toward the already employed (the overwhelming majority native-born whites) and the growing mass of retirees. Those ensconced in state and corporate employment enjoy short weeks, early and well-funded retirement... Read more

Just asking. I mean, I have seen lots of bloggers, beginning with Michelle (who has a nice exchange of letters between the craven Times and a soldier) writing about how the NY Times Dowdified the letters of a dead soldier, essentially changing the whole thesis of the letter, in order to serve their own agenda. I was just wondering if anyone knew whether the Times had actually addressed any of this publicly? Do you think they will? I mean, I... Read more
I like this idea a lot, and Confederate Yankee seems to be the only one writing about it: A record breaking hurricane season has opened our eyes and brought to the forefront our need for improvement in response time to areas damaged by these massive storms. The first hours after a hurricane has made landfall are the most crucial. Without immediate relief those who’ve survived the massive winds and driving rains may very well succumb to rising waters, heat, water... Read more
This editorial strikes me as being right up there with Harry Reid’s insistance, after Fitzgerald didn’t give the Dems what they wanted, (Rove’s head on a platter) that Bush give it to them anyway! “We don’t want him to be president for three more years! The ignoramuses in the red states might have elected him, but we’re not going to stop the tantrum until he’s gone!” The NY Times, in this editorial, sounds remarkably like a frustrated kid in a... I want to extend my thanks to two people who recently made anonymous donations to the site via Amazon. Sometimes I get notified who the donor is, so I can thank them personally, and sometimes I don’t – is it the choice of the donor? I don’t know. But I cannot simply say nothing. You know who you are. Thank you for your very kind and generous donation to the site. It’s much appreciated. Read more
While I was busily NOT writing all weekend, Sigmund, Carl and Alfred seemed to have gone into HYPERWRITING MODE. Everything they’ve written is really good, and I prevail upon you to go read them, just start at the top and scroll down, but if you haven’t the time to do that, then please make sure you don’t miss this particular post Read it all, but then send this little quote here to everyone you know, including all the editors in... Go to AJ Strata’s place and just keep scrolling down…so many folks knew Valerie Plame was at the CIA. And so many seem to know that Joey Wilson is the one who said it first. My own personal recollection is hearing Andrea Mitchell tell – I think it was Matthews – that “everyone” in DC knew Valerie Plame was with the CIA. I hate to criticise a Regian, but how could Fitzgerald have missed all these folks? Read more
Alexandra, at All Things Beautiful brings us an ugly and harrowing tale – one of those things we would rather not look at, but must. The recidivism rate of pedophiles is nearly 100%. Read more
