You Anoint Kings, You Elect Presidents

You Anoint Kings, You Elect Presidents April 5, 2016

King Cruz.fwTrump scares me, but to be honest with you Cruz brings tears of fear to my eyes. One of the main reasons is this idea that his father is forcing upon us, and that is “he is anointed to be President.”

Here’s what I see as the bottom line in all this talk about anointing anyone to be President – Kings are anointed, Presidents are Elected – and there is a BIG difference. To claim that anyone is anointed to be President, discounts how the Divine works in all the people, and simply means the person sees themselves as a King. The idea of anyone claiming a Divine Anointing to be President simply amounts to theological bullying. Why? Because, if you vote against the person claiming “The Divine Anointing” their supporters will claim that you’re not voting as the Divine demands of you – you are voting under the influence of the Enemy. After all, people are sinful, and anyone who votes against the one the Divine has anointed is simply going against what the Divine has planned for us all. This leads people claiming that the individual who wins, and did not claim a Divine Anointing, is not the rightful leaders – and crap, we had enough of that with Obama.

If you don’t see it as a theological power play to control the hearts, and minds, of those who hold to Dominion Theology, you are missing the nuances of how some view the world. What this anointing idea says is, “If you disagree with our anointed, you are not truly walking with the Divine.”  This struck me when Rafael Cruz, the father of Ted Cruz, claimed that his son was the anointed one [never realizing that in the Collective Narrative, Jesus is the only one called ‘the anointed one’ – or, maybe he knows that and is simply putting his son on equal footing with Jesus] and would be president.

If you’re like me, you’re fed-up with Republicans taking, twisting, and radically misquoting the teachings of Jesus to meet their own misguided agenda. At the core of the misguided stance of the Republican’s is the idea of Dominion Theology [DT].

The idea of who the Divine desires to be President, is the twisted idea of DT, and the central principle behind a Theonomy [from theos (god) and nomos (law)]. DT is based on a field of Sociology that describes a Theocratic Ideology where the nation would be based on how the Conservative Christians define and advocate the Mosaic Law. It’s the idea that ALL of the Mosaic law should be observed by all people, regardless. I’m not 100% certain, but I believe it was the AP who defined “Islamist” as a theocratic ideology that seeks to impose their version of Islam law over society’s law. Which, if you think about it can be rewritten, Dominionism is a theocratic ideology that seeks to impose their version of Mosaic law over society’s law.

Dominionist hold a point of view that should scare everyone. I will admit, I’m new to this whole “Dominion Theology” thing, I’m by no means an expert on the subject; it has never been part of my theological/thought wheelhouse. But I’ll say this, what I’ve been reading about Dominion Theology, doesn’t make me happy – in fact, it scares the living excrement out of me.

Dominions claim that we were once, and need to be again, a Christian Nation solely based on the teachings of Jesus [the way they define Jesus]. In that, they promote the religious supremacy of Christianity over all other faith traditions; no other faith tradition has any value [least of all, Muslims]. They place the Mosaic Law at the center of what they believe, and they believe the “Biblical Law” [as defined by them – picking and choosing the ones they like] should be, rather must be, the foundation of all American Laws. This means they are seeking a Theocracy, one where the Constitution is translated through the eyes of the Theocracy.

They can be found in Christian Nationalists, those who hate the idea of separation of church and state … they want it all for their own twisted version of faith. They pose an ultimate danger to our nation – forget “foreign” enemies. Christian Nationalists, if given a chance, will undo our Constitution (godless document that it is) and our Democracy.

The only saving grace I see in all this, is that in the past others have claimed and anointing, and lost – big time.

  • Sarah Palin, for example, was “anointed” by Jim Bram, the former VP at CBN to be the Vice President, but she lost.
  • Mike Huckabee, Pastor turned Politian, claimed that the Divine told him to run, but he lost.
  • Rick Santorum claimed that the Divine told him to run, but he lost also.
  • Mitt Romney supporters said that he was “anointed” by the Divine to run, and he lost.

You would think that if the Divine truly cared about who we elected, and that winning was proof of an anointing, those on the right would have to agree that President Obama was the person the Divine wanted to be President – and there is no way any self-respecting Right Wing Republican would ever say that the Divine anointed Obama to be President.
