Why I Didn’t Vote

Why I Didn’t Vote November 8, 2024

Polling station sign, London. UK general election (and local council elections), 6 May 2010.
This sign was outside a polling station (normally a primary school) in Camberwell, London SE5.

That’s right. I didn’t vote. An unpopular decision, but a necessary one. Had I been a White-male-evangelical, perhaps I would have. Yet, as a Black female minister, the choice wasn’t as definitive. In a land largely proclaiming “men only” in the pulpit, and anything goes as an alternative, I didn’t exactly fit into either agenda… onboard or under.

Flashing back to visiting the old Bible book store in lower Manhattan during my twenties, an African American male prophesied to me and informed me of my future office as prophet. Imagine the joy rushing over my sense-of-being. Only seconds after, another male (Caucasian) decided to chime in and ruin the moment by stating, “You know women aren’t supposed to be preachers.” Stunned, I smiled it off tuning out the remainder of his commentary. A woman, a Black woman, consoled me, and I left confused. Did God only create me to lie with a husband and bear him children? Trump is a reminder of this low point in my Christian development.

Neither one of the candidates speak to my end-of-days values. Nor do I feel they are truly invested in the critical spiritual needs of the people. Their campaigns are high-key congeniality contests containing a more ungodly agenda wedged beneath the surface. Some argue that I let the ancestors down. Others suggest I’m giving Christians a cop out. In all, God has released me from any guilt.

Christians and Trump

A Christian influencer by the name @cliffbuell runs a quite vibrant social platform on Instagram. He posted a video with White ministers surrounding Trump in prayer. He argues, Trump is the only president to be prayed for in this way, which is incorrect. Former president, Barack Obama, was serenaded by throngs of ministers when in office. Being the first self-described Black president of The United States, it was required… considering all the death threats.

Yet, the invitations of clergy to the White House by Trump doesn’t make him born-again. Trump states he’s not a believer. Yet, people, especially, those under the Christian umbrella, make this guy out to be a White Jesus. Has anyone stopped to think, perhaps it’s a camera op? It’s not a new concept.

I get why so many Christians want him in. The LGBTQ+ agenda. This stand point unites the most unlikely people from racially berated communities accused of pet consumption, criminality and rape. Trump himself was indicted on several counts for corruption, fraud and extortion. He is awaiting sentencing later this month. Yet, this isn’t a deterrent in the least for his voters. It seems his sins are forgiven even before they unfold as if he has a hotline to The Cross. As much as my disdain for Obama politics upticks, there’s no way he could have been indicted for Trump’s crimes and allowed to run for a second presidential term.

Trump, caught spewing misogynistic rhetoric and other inflaming taunts, only applies biblical canons to abortion, same sex relationships, and all things LGBTQ. His poor behavior is somehow acceptable. The love for his fellow man seemingly falls alongside the scope of satirical remarks based in race.

The Ancestors & Kamala,

In 1867, 105,832 freedmen registered to vote in Virginia, and 93,145 voted in the election that began on October 22, 1867. Artist Alfred Rudolph Waud depicted “The First Vote” of African Americans in Virginia in the November 16, 1867, issue of Harper’s Weekly magazine. A Black workman, with tools in his pocket, casts the first vote on October 22, 1867, in a Virginia election choosing state convention delegates to write a new constitution.

Yes. My Black ancestors fought for my right to vote. Women as well… even if it began solely with White women. (Black women waited five decades later.) Yet, if they all could speak from beyond their graves, they would probably tell me to leave America and that the vote is just not worth it. Why? Because America has already unleashed the wrath God regardless who’s in office come 2025.

Next. Today Kamala’s Black. Tomorrow, she’s not, but when it counts, she’s not. What does that have to do with anything? Deflection and the flipping & flopping. That’s what. How can you trust anyone running for office who slithers through a topic? The serpent coerced Eve. She bit, then was exiled. Politicians depend on the Black vote, but oftentimes abandon our communities. When asked about reparations, Harris openly said she will research the cause, but that’s as far as reparations goes. She expressed very adamantly she would never do only for the Blacks and what she does for Black people must benefit those in the community or society-at-large. I wonder how that fairs with her sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha?

Beyond that, on a prophetic level, she’s simply a pawn. According to prophecy (see below), her popularity amongst educated people of color, and young female educated voters, will transfer to an alternate person of power… who seems to be her unofficial running mate, Barack Obama.  I never saw this coming until I begin hearing the presages.

The Prophecy

As we shift into end-of-times, the beast must come into power (Revelations 13), and unfortunately according to prophecy Kamala leads the way. So, if she loses and some sort-of-way gains power, it was already ordained. If Obama, who not only berated Black men for not voting for Harris, but has been quite close to this election rises to power as a “dictator” people will know just how spiritually “fixed” the US election process is.

While the right to vote in America remains a precious privilege. I must ask, will these administrations dismantle what purity is left? In the natural, ballot boxes burn while voters are pitted against the other. Spiritually, underhanded schemes are apparently underway. However, it’s the performances presented by political party platforms quietly ushering in the world’s new order that will permanently erode the democratic process in this country.
