Ever since I was a small child I never fit in with a clique. When I started school, I didn’t speak English so I was different and stood out. I met my childhood best friend in kindergarten and she stayed my friend up until a few years ago. She and I got along great most of our lives, although there were a few times that I back stabbed her and she back stabbed me, it’s bound to happen. But other... Read more

I have given up Facebook for about a week now. Maybe longer, I have been so happy with this decision that I haven’t even counted the days like all the other times that I deactivated. Today, I logged in and tried to cheat. Why? Because  I miss talking to people. I thought that I could get on really quick, check the news, and maybe have a little innocent conversation with people about Jennifer Fulwiler’s new book (which I got to... Read more

I am thinking of getting my own domain and changing the name of my blog because more and more people are reading it. And because The Ramblings of a Crazy Face is hard to say and takes forever to write. Please be patient with me, the name might change a lot until I feel that it’s good enough to pay for a domain. Any feedback is very welcome. There is a contact form on my About Me page now. Happy... Read more

When I was 13 years old I met the man of my dreams. He wasn’t yet a man, he was a 14-year-old horny, arrogant, self-absorbed boy. But I didn’t see any of that. All I saw was his smile and the way that his mom loved him. The first time that he put his arms around me in the woods under the night sky was the first time that I ever felt safe. I felt a lot of other things,... Read more

I have always had this crazy gift of meeting cool people without any kind of effort. Once, I ran into Seether (my favorite band) at the Hooters I had worked at and ended up sitting with them and having a beer. Then, I got them to put me and my best friend, a cancer survivor, on the VIP list. It was the best concert ever, and at the end of it they dedicated “Broken” to us and met us back... Read more

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m a bit crazy when I have a meltdown. I am kind of known for my meltdowns with the people who know me the best. Lord help everyone if I have one after drinking whiskey. Yesterday I had the worst meltdown since my conversion. For the about the last 15 months things in my and my husband’s life have been stressful. I can’t even use the word stressful anymore, because it is... Read more

I went to confession this evening finally and it was AWESOME! For the first time in a long time, I examined my conscience. I started thinking about my sins on the drive to my parish, which I don’t recommend because I almost got in a wreck, and when I got there I used the notes app on my phone to start writing them up. I wanted to confess them all and get them out. After I finished, Father had some... Read more

1. How is everyone’s New Year goin’? Mine is pretty good. Things are still kind of crazy around here and I still need to go to confession, but overall, it’s going pretty good. 2. One of the things that I wanted to do from now on is make sure that my family all sits down and eats dinner together every night. That means that I have to cook dinner every night, and I’ve done really good this week. I got... Read more

Since my conversion in 2009, I have gained 60 pounds. I have never had a problem with my weight except that I was way too skinny most of my life. I didn’t even break 100 pounds until I was 30 years old, so I could have used about 20 or 25 of those pounds. But the other 40 really make things uncomfortable for me. There are really a lot of practical reasons why I have gained the weight, such as... Read more

I was planning to write a long post about Jamie Stiehm’s op-ed “The Catholic Supreme Court’s War on Women”, but Elizabeth Scalia hit it out of the ballpark with her post “Fisking Stiehm’s Bigorty at US News”  much more intelligently than I could ever dream of doing. Joanne McPortland added to the Anchoress’s fisk with this brilliant post citing a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Ursuline Sisters. Both of these women make me so proud to be a Catholic.... Read more
