Advent Book Recommendation: Malcolm Guite’s Waiting on the Word

Advent Book Recommendation: Malcolm Guite’s Waiting on the Word November 28, 2018

Hands down, my all-time favorite book to read during Advent is Malcolm Guite’s anthology of poetry Waiting on the Word.

Malcolm is an English Anglican priest and poet who serves as Chaplain of Girton College at Cambridge University. This collection offers a poem with the corresponding commentary for every day of the Advent and Christmas seasons. The selections of poetry span classics from the English literary and spiritual tradition as well as lesser known but excellent contemporary poems and poets. My wife and I have read through this poetry collection for the past three Advents… and it gets better each time as we become more familiar with the poems.

Pick up a copy and read with great expectation! I don’t think you will be disappointed.
