The Southern Baptist Convention Has Done It Again! (RETRACTION) December 3, 2022

Pastors who sexually abuse
Copyright, The Houston Chronicle. Some of the faces of pastors who have allegedly sexually offended within the SBC.

Greetings Readers,

The article I originally published was based on information received by the Religion News Services, which is typically a reliable trustworthy resource for information. However, in this case, it was not. Let me clarify the situation now.

Yes, a committee was indeed put together in order to create a restoration process for Mr. Johnny Hunt who in 2010 assaulted another pastor’s wife. When initially confronted with the allegation Hunt denied it. When evidence turned up that proved that the assault occurred, Hunt claimed that it did happen, but it was mutual. When proof emerged that demonstrated that it was not mutual, Hunt finally capitulated. Johnny Hunt is a predator!

What was not accurate was that the SBC was the group that put this committee together. In fact, the SBC President issued a statement regarding this situation, which you can read here.

It is not entirely clear who formed this committee and what authority the committee actually has. But, I am nevertheless encouraged that the SBC has attempted to rectify the situation by formally apologizing to victims and ensuring that anyone who is found to have sexually assaulted someone will not be allowed to be a pastor in that denomination.

I pride myself in presenting information that is true and well researched. I apologize to those who were misled by my original article. I am hopeful that this retraction will set the record straight.
