The Supreme Court,Dereḵ Ha’Yashar, And Super Tuesday March 6, 2024

This week has been a mind-boggling week already; many conservatives are showing their true colors and what they value most. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of former president Trump remaining on the Colorado ballot.

The court’s decision wasn’t based on the former president’s actions at all. The decision was based on whether or not the state had the right to remove citizen Trump from the ballot.

Numerous states are protesting the former president because of his actions surrounding the January 6th insurrection. His actions contradicted their conservative values.

  • Deception
  • Abuse of power
  • Vengeful
  • Refusing to obey our Constitution

However, the corruption began long before his betrayal on January 6th. Years of proven business fraud have finally caught up to him.

His uncontrollable lust for women has cost him millions of dollars, all because he cannot control himself. To be fair, we all have a sinful nature due to the fall in the garden (Genesis 3:1-7.)

We each must choose between our selfish way and God’s way. For four years the former president Trump stacked the Supreme Court just so he and conservatives could get their way, even if it isn’t God’s way.

God’s way

The Bible is clear God was here, long before the earth (Genesis 1:1-3.) God looked down from heaven and despised the wickedness of man ( Genesis 6:5.) The corrupt heart of mankind is never satisfied and always wants more (Proverbs 23:24, Ecclesiastes 4:8.)

The early church fathers reminded God’s people to follow the ways of God and not walk in the ways of the world (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 5:11, 1 John2:15-17.)

Most Christians understand that there is a clear difference between how God’s people should live and how the lost and the world live.

Because, God’s ways are not like fallen mankind’s (2 Samuel 7:19, Psalm 103:11, Proverbs 3:5-6.) God’s people are commanded to live the right way (Deuteronomy 18:9.)

Dereḵ  Ha’Yashar

Judaism teaches living as God’s people means living a different way than the rest of the world. God’s way is the only right way for the people of God, in Judaism this is called Dereḵ Ha’Yashar, the right way.

The prophets of the Old Testament constantly reminded Israel that God’s ways are not like theirs’ (Isaiah 40:28; 55:8, Jeremiah 10:23.) His way is always right because they are higher than theirs (Isaiah 55:9.) Below are the characteristics of God’s ways according to Judaism.

  1. Righteous
  2. Everlasting
  3. Holy
  4. Just
  5. Perfect

When Jesus began His earthly ministry, He called Himself the Way (John 14:6.) The only way for us to take on the characteristics and qualities of God are through Jesus. Thus, there is no other way to the Father (John 14:6-7.) As we celebrate Lent, we must remember we follow the ways of God and not the world.

This is why the Bible warns us against following the ways of the world (Joshua 24:15, Psalm 118:8-9, Proverbs 14:12, Matthew 15:13-14.) Those who follow the evil ways of this world are cursed (Galatians 1:8.)

Evil

The Bible is clear, the ways of this world are evil (Genesis 3:17-18, Job 8:22, Psalm 5:4, Proverbs 6:12-16.) The heart of man is evil (Jeremiah 17:9, Matthew 15:19.)

The curse of sin has corrupted everything on this fallen world. We need God and His Spirit to guide us in the right way—God’s way (Psalm 25:1-22, Isaiah 48:17, Galatians 5:16-25, 2 Peter 1:4!)

God’s people cannot follow the ways of the world, no matter how popular they may be or happy they make us.

As I write this former president Trump is boasting about his victories on Super Tuesday. He continues to promote his evil and worldly agenda. Earthly greatness is temporary, vengeance belongs to God (Deuteronomy 32:35, Romans 12:17, 19.) As God’s people we must follow Derek HaYashar!
