Real and Raw in Glastonbury

Real and Raw in Glastonbury

I missed posting last month, and I am struggling to find something magical to talk about.

When I changed the name of this blog from The Water Witch to A Water Priestess in Avalon, I had every intention of writing more about the Priestess path, my life here in Glastonbury, and my magical adventures. I still hope to do this, but how can I even write when I am constantly battling drama, trauma, and insane egoic energies?

When I first moved to Glastonbury, it was everything that I had hoped for. It was quiet, lovely, and I could feel the magic. I began volunteering at the White Spring, and my new life began. As each season passed, I gained more and more responsibility at the White Spring, eventually taking on the role of Ceremonial Custodian. As my time at the spring ticked on, I ended up with more and more responsibility, eventually taking on the role of Co-Custodian with Sol, who has been a Keeper of the spring for nearly 12 years and has been the Custodian for 3+.

The original structure of the White Spring was set up to have two equal co-custodians, one masculine and one feminine. Since 2017, the spring has not been able to retain a female custodian. So in April, Sol brought me up from the Ceremonial Custodian role to be his Co-Custodian. A move that will bring the spring back to balance. Having both masculine and feminine energy tending the space is so important. We care for both masculine and feminine spirits. We also provide space for both masculine-identifying folks and feminine-identifying folks. Just like water, which takes the shape of the container it is in. We provide space for folks who are neither, both, everything, or nothing in between. We endeavor to provide space for everyone, no matter their identity. The spring can be an amazing place, full of magic, transformation, and healing. However…

There is also a sinister energy that flows through the place. It’s not the place itself, though; it is the people who come to the place. They carry an energy that isn’t good. It is one that is greedy, entitled, and brings out the worst in people. They want to possess and control.

We know this story well…

The story of the greedy King Amangon, who was freely given water from the Well Maidens’ golden bowls. He could have just received what was freely given and honoured it but he lusted for control. He wanted to possess the golden bowl, the well maiden, and the water. For many, this story can even take place within our own lives.

So what happens when it isn’t an evil king? What happens when it’s a jealous woman? a greedy boss? ego-driven management? a pushy drug dealer? Someone who doesn’t want to wait in line for water?

Do the waters dry up? Does the land still become barren? Does it become a wasteland? Yes… and we have seen that exact thing happen in Glastonbury.

Glastonbury has recently experienced a significant increase in anti-social behavior. So much so that our new MP went to parliament fiercely requesting help from the government and the police force. It’s not an over exaggeration either. Since Beltane, I have filed nearly 15 police reports between my home and the White Spring. Things in the heart chakra of the world are in turmoil.

Today I don’t have much to offer the online and international community. The only thing I have to offer is transparency on where I am at, what it is like being a real boots-on-the-ground priestess, and the fact is that it isn’t easy.

Moving forward…

I will no longer be presenting only the positive face of being a Water Priestess in Avalon. From this moment forth, I will be sharing what is real, what is raw, and what is really happening in Avalon. It is important that other Priestesses don’t misunderstand that this path is treacherous. It is full of real spiritual danger and often grueling hard work in the physical world. One minute you are scrubbing floors, the next you are holding a crying woman who just had a profound moment inside the temple, and then you’re trying to shift the energy of the space to the next, standing in fierce grace against folks abusing the temple. It’s not glamorous, it’s not easy… THIS is sacred service.

If what I have written today bothers you, makes you feel uncomfortable, or worried. If you are scared that I may write about you and your abhorrent behavior. Then I invite you to show up in my life the way you wish to be documented. Because make no mistake… I will no longer be silenced.
