Wheel on Fire: What Can Dharma Do?

Wheel on Fire: What Can Dharma Do?

We ought to be able to look the situation (in this case the possible near-term big changes in our society caused by hovering past half-oil) square in the face or our practice of facing a wall is just more self indulgence.

That’s the starting place.

Another thing came to mind when I was talking with a co-worker about all this who is a Texas ex-patriot, now a Minnesotan for 35 years. Her brother is high in the oil industry. She assured me that the US has huge secret oil reserves and that our strategy is to deplete everybody else’s oil first. But, I pointed out, our government and oil industry would have to be incredibly smart and fiendishly selfish. We both laughed and shrugged at that one.

That’s the other thing. We don’t really know so while we are doing our best to wisely prepare, we best yuck it up with each other as much as possible.

Thus Master Yoda said, “Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.”
