Ahhh! Summer!

Ahhh! Summer!

Finally my school year is done! I’ve got about 80 hours of work to do between now and August 8th when we go to the BWCA. I’m leery of teachers who say that their top three reasons for becoming teachers are June, July, and August … but good lord, I love ’em. Now I get to settle in at home with my kids and Bodhi, the true Zen dog.

Speaking of Bodhi, when one of my neighbors (a normal Minnesotan, I thought) met Bodhi, she asked what his name meant. When I said, “Enlightenment,” she responded, “Oh, yes, I see, he’s completely black, just like enlightenment.”

I’m not sure what is going on there, but I’ll check it out for you and report back.

The photo above is of Bald Eagle Lake. I bike around it almost daily and the kids and I often go floating in rafts we bought at WalMart for about $20 each. The cheapest thrill on the lake, I believe.

Ancient Zen saying: Sometimes the snake must train in a bamboo tube. Sometimes you must throw snake in big lake.
