Wild Fox Talk at Boundless Way Rohatsu

I arrived at the Boundless Way rohatsu sesshin a bit late, during the first morning talk, and so I sat in the office next to the zendo only to discover that those rascals had selected the wild fox koan as the theme for the sesshin. The talk sections are about 15 minutes long and then there’s teacher-student interaction bringing out the point. I made the briefest reference to mu as a “one-syllable prayer” in the spirit of the Cloud of Unknowing – something we unpacked in a class here in the fall and also worked with at the Deep Spring sesshin. That seemed to be of the most interest to the practitioners.
