The Sound Of One Hand

The Sound Of One Hand
Here’s a wonderful talk about the Sound-of-One-Hand koan, Hakuin and some of his women students, and the meditation of hearing by Subhana Barzaghi Roshi. She teaches at the Sydney Zen Centre and is a successor of Robert Aitken and John Tarrant.

“Avalokiteshvara (the bodhisattva of compassion) is the one who hears the sound and is awakened by the sound. Avalokiteshvara is the sound itself,” says Subhana.

This is a warm-hearted introduction to koan practice as well. Click here and go to 11 November 2010 “The Sound of One Hand” in the mp3 list.
