The Blog Post About How There’s No Blog Post Today

The Blog Post About How There’s No Blog Post Today April 14, 2012

Patheos (the official host of this blog) is making a grand shift in its design, and The Wild Hunt is scheduled to undergo “conversion” today (I’m sure it’s nowhere near as sinister as that sounds). As such, I’ve been advised to not make any sudden moves or write posts that I would like to see preserved for the long term. So, there’s no formal blog post today.

That said, here’s a few quick links you might want to check out today.

That’s it for now, have a great day, and see you tomorrow with a new-ish look!

” “The Golden Ass of Lucius Apuleius.”

LOL. Sounds like a bad porn film of one of the commentators here.

(My mind does strange things when I have a lack of coffee in my system)

  • The Pagan Perspective article on Apuleius contains a positively horrifying amount of disinformation.

Apuleius is described as “extremely critical of both the Olympian deities and Greek religion in general”. His Paganism is described as “a shaded form of monotheism, [although] it is actually henotheism.” And his writings are said to ” illustrate the inferior nature of the existing Greek and Roman deities.”

All of that is pure nonsense. Apuleius was quite proud to be an initiate in multiple Greek Mystery cults, which were among the most important and honored institutions of “Greek religion in general”. And in addition to being a devotee of Isis, he was also a fervent devotee of the Olympian God Hermes. In fact he carried a small statue of Hermes (that was made personally for him) whenever he traveled for use in his own personal devotions. And he was also a priest of Asclepius.

Happy Birthday, Lady Olivia!  You have brought such richness and magick into my world, as well as the world of many others.  I will quote your words back to you..“Be happy now. Don’t worry about if you
were happy yesterday, or whether you will be happy tomorrow. . .
eternity is between seconds. You find Deity, the Goddess, the God, now.
And your home becomes your sanctuary. You have a sanctuary as your
hearth – a candle, one candle, a stick of incense, wherever you are is
Heaven. That’s what my message is – yes – wherever you are, should be

This new layout is WEIRD. I thought something was broken when I first came back here, like the page didn’t load completely.

Oh well. It’s free, I guess I’m not allowed to complain. On the plus side, more Christian dating ads to the left and above 😛 Just what I needed!

At least it doesn’t take as long to come up on my vintage system. But the comment posting function sticks.

I’m liking this.  Comments load more easily, and I can jump to other Patheos blogs more quickly, as well as find the Pagan Portal much more easily.

  • Can’t wait for the next post (after this conversion).

They’re making you undergo a conversion?? Oh no! Are they making you become a Jehovah’s Witness or something?!?! ::grins, ducks, runs::

I use Firefox with the NoScript add-on, so I see no ads at all. I highly recommend it.

I’m with you Mia. Plus it’s one of my blog pet peeves that I can’t access the comments from the /end/ of the article. Because everyone skips to the comments without reading the article first, right?

Course, I know you can’t do anything about it, Jason. I’ll just have to get used to it!
