Unleash the Hounds! (Link Roundup)

Unleash the Hounds! (Link Roundup) June 15, 2012

There are lots of articles and essays of interest to modern Pagans out there, sometimes more than I can write about in-depth in any given week. So The Wild Hunt must unleash the hounds in order to round them all up.

The Lia Fáil - Hill of Tara, Ireland.

That’s it for now! Feel free to discuss any of these links in the comments, some of these I may expand into longer posts as needed.

  • When it comes to Reality shows, there will be a Pagan/Wiccan based reality show. This is not a question or even a prediction as much as a television reality. It will happen and happen soon. With over a dozen companies in the hunt,  it is just a matter of when. I know this personally and not just hearsay. Let me take this a step further and all media distorts period. It is why it is the marketplace of ideas, as there is no such thing as  a pure show.  Everyone must focus on the bottom line sometime or fail. Patheos is a example of this as well, as it is a commercial site with a huge Pagan presence.

On the druid article, while it is reported by an Austrian media outlet, the article is reporting on druids (and their healing beech trees) in Serbia.

With regard to the “.church” domain, let’s hope actual pagans actually get to urls such as “pagan,” “wiccan,” etc., before they are all bought up by anti pagan groups.  It has happened, in a completely different arena, where a group or groups who are totally opposed to a movement I’m involved in bought up all the relevant urls.

As a Unitarian Universalist Pagan I wryly note that Anne Hill’s HuffPo remonstrance could be directed at UUs no less than Pagans.

    I’d like “.wyrd” .

Jason,  Don’t know if you’ve seen this, but it contains an interesting discussion of the impact on minority religions (in this case, Judaism) of the recent War on Women.  (Warning, contains words not safe to utter in Michigan)

I think Anne Hill nailed it in her remonstrance!  Also, self-righteousness is a highly toxic thing, even when deployed to mobilize people for a good cause.

Seems Xtain Iconoclastism has reared it’s ugly head again with The Lai Fail damage.  The ones who chain-sawed the legs of the prop used in the  ‘Wicker Man” film must be on the move.

It is possible that it is Christian responsibility, but more likely just mindless violenc from som idiot.

From what I can tell from the article, it seems the attack was directed.
An archeologist concluded it was “…Struck with a hammer or similar instrument in
11 places on all four faces of the stone. It appears that the fragments
which were chipped off have been removed as they could not be found…”All sides  of the artifact were hit, and pieces removed.  According to past history, this would imply an act motivated by religious hatred, as opposed some spur of the moment violent act.

Fair enough. Could be a souvenir taker.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I disagree with your thinking, just looking at all the options.
