Salutations to the Sun…Sun Magick

Salutations to the Sun…Sun Magick 2020-02-08T00:36:50+00:00

The Sun… our light, our warmth, our existence. The Sun is to most a male aspect, in pagan beliefs the Sun being the god, the Moon his goddess. Together they wax and wane, and in doing so bring us many influences and magickal opportunities. The Sun is brilliance, abundance, intensity in its warmth and rays, and success in its influence. It is then from Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice that we work with this firey star, as this is when solar energy is growing, and at its strongest. Sunday at noon being the best time to work with the Sun, but starting at sunrise the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd hours of Sunday work as well.

A practice I have embraced comes from some the tribes of Native Americans that reside up here amongst me, as I feel their customs and practices have long been a part of these woods and lands. These tribes take celebration in a dance to bring honor and to work with the Sun, to bring forth manifestation of this giver of abundance and light, the Great Spirit. This ritual centuries old, is done to bring connection to the properties of the Sun and done Deosil, or in direction of the Sun and positive gain, verus Widdershins aiding dark magick and bindings. This dance is performed to gain strength as the Sun now is, to replace fears with accomplishments, and to ensure prosperity and visions…

In The Chakras the Solar Plexus, or Manipura rules emotions such as self image and attaining Higher Self, body wise it rules the blood, circulatory system, eyes, heart,
spinal column, spleen and upper back. Located within the center of the body, the Solar Plexus is one’s soul…

So work with the Sun for matters of money, favor and luck, advancement, or ascension. Use stones and crystals such as Amber, Citrine, Tiger’s eye, or Topaz. I burn firey orange candles and my Fire elemental incense, or my Imbolc incense blend that I make for my shop and self to bring about the Sun’s warmth and prosperity. On these dark and still uncertain nights of winter.
