World Refugee Day was June 20th. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHR) noted that “the number of refugees, asylum-seekers and internally displaced people worldwide has, for the first time in the post-World War II era, exceeded 50 million people.”
The big increase, they say, comes from the war in Syria. But along with Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia make up half of the refugee total. These countries are all war zones.
