What am I talking about? The film by Ian and Dominic Higgins, that’s what. You remember the one? It’s called All That Remains, and it’s the amazing story of Takashi Nagai, and how he responded to the bombing of his beloved city, Nagasaki. Here’s a little message Nigel Martin Davey, one of my Co-Producers (a real one, not an honorary one like me) put out recently if you are interested. (more…) Read more

that while “the good” isn’t “the perfect”  (in the midst of a fallen world), that doesn’t mean it’s the embodiment of all evil either. Nor does that make it the aider and abettor of evil anymore than the Church is as a whole. What follows is from his post entitled Compassion vs. CARE: A Defense of Catholic Relief Services.  Food, Water, and…Contraception? (more…) Read more

From The Dark Knight Rises website, Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching... Read more

This is for the half-dozen or so readers who haven’t seen the photographs of actor Christian Bale (Batman) visiting the hospital where victims of the theater shooting last Friday are being treated. Let me tell you what this does for morale. (more…) Read more

Acts of terror, senseless violence, wars, rumors of wars, budget crises, scary headlines, scandal, political vitriol, etc., etc., got you down? It’s good to remember that life goes on, and is worth living. For as the Psalmist reminds us, For the LORD will not forsake his people, nor abandon his inheritance. Judgment shall again... Read more

There are a number of readers here who have decided intellectually that becoming a Catholic Christian is what they want to do with their lives. Others, who were Catholics at one time, find themselves yearning to return home. Yet both groups hesitate to join the Church. (more…) Read more

Why am I choosing the “lesser of two evils” come this Fall? Let me show you Exhibit A. The folks over at The Weekly Standard have the rest of the story from a town hall style campaign stop in Ohio a few days ago. They’ve just never heard of TubeChop over at TWS. Maybe Mitt Romney isn’t an “evil” to choose, but just a weevil. Still, I’ll be choosing him. It’s like this, see? I’m not going to “overthink” the... Read more

I just noticed the neatest thing over on my Google+ account. There is a photo album there where all of the photographs I have ever used while the blog was on Blogger are presented all together. It sort of reminds me of a Pinterest board. It’s also like going back in time just scrolling through the collection of photographs, paintings, and drawings (906 in all) from my very first solo post (see photograph above), to all the rest of them.... Read more
