Even without the recent election, it’s clear that we the people have some sharp disagreements with one another. This isn’t anything new. There have always been sharp disagreements in every place, among every people, and in every era of history. That won’t change anytime soon. What I find particularly interesting about the current state of discord is the approach most often taken towards resolution. Whether it’s in conversations over coffee, a heated debate online, or an op-ed piece... Read more
I honestly didn’t think this day would ever come. But Pat Robertson has finally said something that’s not completely insane. Which means you need to prepare yourself. The Mayans were right. The end is nigh! Read more

If you’re like me, then this picture feels something like photographic proof of Bigfoot. After all, it’s too horrible amazing to think this could actually be a church’s name. But my friend Adam took this picture personally and I can assure you it is very, very real. Now the hunt begins for “Democratic Episcopal Church.” Read more
This morning I came across an article Frank Schaeffer wrote for The Huffington Post entitled, “If Jesus Hates Anything Maybe It’s Theology.” The article is essentially a 4,000 word theological reflection on faith….which criticizes theological reflection. Sadly, this sort of ironic (or hypocritical) denunciation has become increasingly trendy in the church over the years. Honestly, I get it. Even though I love theology, we in the church love splitting theological hairs so that we can then hold those dogmas... Read more
