Jehovah’s Witnesses do not refer to their places of worship as churches, but instead as a “Kingdom Hall.” Kingdom Halls act like a typical church would in many ways, however they do have a few differences from Catholics and other denominations. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not have a paid clergy and instead believe “all baptized members are ordained ministers and share in the preaching and teaching work.” Both men and women can be ministers but each congregation has a set of older men that serve as “elders.” They are not required to tithe and no collections are taken at the Kingdom Hall. Donation boxes are available instead.
