Parsha Noach Genesis 6:9 – 11:32

Tower of Babel by Lucas Van Valckenborch 1594 via Wikimedia CCThe last part of the series is a bit of a family tree for Shem. Eight generations later, there is Terah who had three sons -- Abram (who would become Abraham), Nahor, and Haran. Nahor’s son was Lot and Haran married one of Nahor’s daughters. Abram married Sarai (who would later become Sarah). Here we have mention of Sarai being barren and that they were on their way to Ur.

In contrast to later books of the Torah, this beginning packs a punch and doesn’t allow much time for reflection. Yesterday we were discussomg the creation of the Earth and here we are on to Abraham and Sarah, already! Stay tuned for next week!
