3. Some people are saying: He has the right to protest, but he should have protested against something else besides the US Flag and the National Anthem! My response: Who the Hell are you to tell anyone how and what to protest against? The whole purpose of protesting something is to cause a disruption and to make people ask questions. And some of the most beloved things to so-called “patriotic” Americans is the American Flag and the National Anthem. I remember about 20 years ago when NBA Basketball player Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf also refused to stand for the national anthem and all the hateful people came out of the woodwork as they are doing again today and said he should be shot and killed, etc. To me these type of comments do not reflect a true sense of patriotism, but instead a false sense of superiority and lack of understanding of what true liberty and freedom is all about. It’s not about everyone agreeing with you, but having respect for everyone, even those who you strongly disagree with.
