#8 Hijab/Modesty
Hijab is widely regarded as a dress code for Muslim women. However, it is not just a dress code, and is not meant just for women or Muslims only.
Jesus taught:
Jesus’s mother, Mary (known as Maryam in the Qur’an) is highly revered by Muslims. I have never seen an image of Mary without wearing a Hijab, have you? (OK, I know we don’t call that Hijab but that’s exactly what she is wearing).
I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes. 1 Timothy 2:9
#9 Don’t eat pork
Muslims consider pigs as unclean and don’t eat pork, following the teachings of the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad.
Jesus taught:
Jesus made frequent references to the law of Moses, and avoided eating pork is in line with the law of Moses.
And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. Leviticus 11:7
#10 The Golden Rule
There is an Islamic version of the “golden rule” as taught by Prophet Muhammad.
None of you has faith until he loves for his brother or his neighbor what he loves for himself. Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Number 72
Jesus taught:
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12
Do you agree that Prophet Jesus taught “Islam”? Are Prophet Muhammad’s teachings the same as (or similar to) those of Prophet Jesus?
