Hey Marc,I was there in Madrid too – had an amazing wonderfully blessed time! Did you go to catechesis during the week at the Love & Life Centre?? That place was so well done. Sisters of Life are freakin' awesome.

Thanks, Marc. This really did capture the feeling in Madrid. Even an old guy like me got a lot out of sleeping on the floor and being rained on in the field.I still think Cuatro Vientes is Spanish for "Hell on Earth."

Thanks for the video Marc! It captures the energy of WYD 2011 very very well (loved those quotes!"You can go anywhere, be Catholic, and be home.")I am sorry we never met up in Madrid :( I'll hunt you down and shake your hand one day though. Rio? :)

Is it Catholic to recognize that the German chick is HOT? And a sister in Christ, at that!

Hi!!! greetings from Costa Rica, I really love the documentary, that inspire me to write about my experience in WYD, I post your videos too check it out at catalinamr.blogspot.com ;)

  • Lauren G

Now I miss WYD even more. Excuse me while I go and cry until Rio.

On another note, if Jesus didn’t die for my sins, those men spraying the fire hoses might be the best thing anyone’s done for me;)

    • Magda

      Completely agree! :D

When she said “400 Slovakians and Italians” I looked over to my wall where I had hung two flags I had gotten from trading. A banner from Slovakia, and one from the Italians. Such good memories… yeah it was hard, but I don’t regret anything. It was amazing. This was the push I needed to decide to major in Foreign Language at Benedictine College, which I will hopefully go on to do after I graduate high school next year. Also, we were (most likely) the people singing the “Heeeey Benedicto!” at 2:39. :-) Maybe I will go to Rio! See you guys in 2014 <3

HIIIIIII MARC! Excuse the over excitement and fanatacism :E I just finished reading/watching your WYD “series” and I’m so incredibly pumped right nowajfklashdflkjahd;flkasj;lksjka….AHH!!! I was also blessed with the opportunity to invade the streets of Madrid, and you know, chill with two million of my bff’s and THE POPE this August ;) Almost six months later, I was still painfully reminiscing about what a freaking AWESOME (and holy) adventure/party/pilgrimage/event that epitomizes what it means to be the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church it was haha! Thank you so much for documenting your experience and sharing it with all of us…I loved how I could relive the best. summer. EVER. through your brilliant posts :) Seriously man, thanks for that.

I discovered your blog a couple weeks ago when Audrey Assad posted your response to “Why I hate religion, but love Jesus,” and have been following ever since. More thanks for the insight, the prayers, the laughs, the awesomeness, the catholicness. May God bless you and Our Mama Mary keep you always! Nos vemos en Rio!!!!!!! :)

    Yours in Christ,
    Maggie Ruiz
