I’m In Trouble

I just read a headline saying, “Tips to Alleviate Separation Anxiety,” and truly thought (until I opened the article) that it was aimed at mothers struggling with sadness on their child’s first day of school. Of course, they were talking about the kids being sad. I’m going to be a mess on Monday morning!

Me too!! David’s first day of kindergarten and he wants to ride the bus! I’m already a mess and it’s going to be so much worse Monday morning… And I assume according to your comments, it doesn’t get any better as they get older?? Haha

Kat, I’m already feeling sad about it myself. We have another week and a half before the kids begin, but my kids have been so forbearing and helpful, and we’ve grown together a lot as a family this summer. It’s sad to see it end. But there are so many things I love about the schoolyear too. I keep reminding myself that we need both schoolyear and summer in order to really appreciate and savor either. I’ll be thinking of you Monday morning!!!

JM, I feel I could have written your comment, myself. It is after wonderful summers such as the one we’ve had that I start to seriously question whether or not I should homeschool! But I’m with you that there are aspects of the school year that I love and others that really stretch us and make our family “grow up” in ways we wouldn’t if we were together all the time. Kat, I’ll be thinking of you Monday. I know I’m going to feel like you when my girls start…

I’m praying for you. It’s a hard day for mommies and littles alike. :)
