I must admit when I first picked up Angels All Around Us: A Sightseeing Guide to the Invisible World I was a bit apprehensive but the author really has delivered an excellent read. Anthony DeStefano states that the book is an attempt to render the spiritual world more clearly to the reader. In the first chapter he made the following observation. That once you more familiar with the invisible realities around you will find the following to be true.
“1) It will be easier for you to act in sync with your moral beliefs; 2) your life will be much fuller, richer, and more exciting than you ever imagined possible; and 3) no amount of suffering will ever be able to destroy the profound inner sense of peace you’ll experience on a daily basis.”
What impressed me the most about this book was the author backed everything up with solid theology, biblical scholarship and the teaching of the Church. This was not some hokey book about vampires or the Force. To prove this you simply have to turn to the back of the book. There you will find two things. 206 references to scripture and a huge bibliography with some of the best Catholic books in print. These titles include authors like G.K. Chesterton, Thomas Aquinas, Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict), Pope John Paul II, and C.S. Lewis to name a few.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
