Mary, you have found grace, Mary: Day 198 February 4, 2016

With a keen attention to detail, St. Albert the Great notes carefully the impor- tance of the angel’s declaration that Mary had “found” grace with God (see Lk 1:30).

“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.” For behold, Mary,
you have found grace, you have not taken it as Lucifer tried to do. You have found grace, you have not lost it
as Adam did.
You have found favor with God because you desired and sought it. You have found uncreated Grace: that is, God himself
became your Son, and with that Grace
you have found and obtained every uncreated good.

—St. Albert the Great

IN GOD’S PRESENCE, CONSIDER . . .
What does it mean to “find grace”? Must we actively seek it in order to find it?
How can Mary help us “find grace” with God?

CLOSING PRAYER
From a prayer of St. Peter Chrysologus: Mary, you have found grace, but how great a grace! It was such that it filled you; and so great was its fullness, that it could be poured down as a torrent on every creature.
