“Whether it’s our children or Not, we have a community problem among our Youth…”
Look around the community and observe our young people; then ask yourself, “How is my child’s behavior being observed, when I’m not present?”
Starting Monday December 17th through Friday December 21, 2012 is, “Come Closer to Your Teen Week.” We have a viral problem spreading throughout urban communities. Our young adults have embraced a lifestyle, that’s producing negatives statistics and causalities.
Social ills evolving into…
Unemployment | Incarceration | Drugs | Abuse | Online Bullying | Pornography texting (Sextexting) | Stress Management | Mental Health Issues and more
During “Come Closer to Your Teen Week,” let’s identify our teen’s core values (skills, interests, and values) and close the generation gap between us and our children. Think about it, we use to be them. Help them see, believe and live a life of dignity, love and respect. Help them reach goals and achievements, we envisioned for them at birth.
You say, how I can begin this conversation; simply say “I love you and you are my child” and then develop a discussion around the following tenets…
Identify Core Values | Motivation | Spend Valuable Time | Close Gaps | Encourage | Create Safe Spaces | Learn their interests | Create Incentives and Promote Education
Empower, Our Young People! Let’s utilize those same “Conflict Resolution” and “Life Skills” training tools; that are presented at work, at a seminar, during those religious and/or academic retreats, or YouTube for personal development. #Havepatience and know it will not be an easy task, but it is a “must do” for the survival of urban youth, not to be mistreated due to a virus of ignorance.
This CALL TO ACTION is for all ethnic groups, social status and backgrounds, no child is excluded. We have work! Please Share this Social Campaign with your Facebook Friends, Twitter #TeenEmpowermentweek, with family members and those offline conversations. Let it grow into more Care, a Support of Love and Empowerment!
Wisdom Wednesday are thoughts for social conversation and the sharing of honest opinions, ideals, and Wisdom. All of us have a value worth sharing; it may motivate another to stop, continue and/ or begin a certain process in our personal or social development. #tohavevision
