The Actual Voice of a Nineteenth-Century Prophet

Quite a number of years ago now, I was astonished to hear the actual voice of Wilford Woodruff, the fourth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, bearing witness to the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith.

It was deeply moving to me to hear the testimony of a man who knew Joseph as a friend and associate, who was ordained under Joseph’s hands, an apostle who himself eventually became the prophet and president of the Church.

I’ve just listened again, and I find myself equally impressed and moved.
