Athens, Bonn, and Culture

As someone who has spent multiple years in both Germanic Europe and the Mediterranean, who has formal training and language ability relating to both, and who visits both areas fairly frequently — I’ll spend six of the next seven weeks or so in the Near East and in northern and central Europe, for example, and am scheduled to spend half of September in both European and Asian Turkey — and who is passionate about both places, I have to say that I think that the indispensable Victor Davis Hanson has gotten this right, however politically incorrect it may have been for him to say it:

On judging people
"Ending Tax Exemptions Means Ending Churches"
"The Supreme Court Ratifies a New Civic Religion that is Incompatible with Christianity"
"The Only Three Heavy Elements in the Universe that Aren't Made in Stars"
