We walked from our hotel, last night, past the YMCA (which doesn’t resemble any YMCA you’re every likely to have seen, and which our earlier Arab cabdriver called al-yimka) on the right side and the historic King David Hotel (blown up by Menachem Begin, but used more legitimately by a host of people like Winston Churchill, George Bush, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Sting, and etc., etc.) on the left side, to a really fine little restaurant called, I believe, The Olive and Fish. Very good food. Perfect weather — in the nighttime, at least, and in relatively high Jerusalem, at least — for now.
