“O God, Where Art Thou?”

An old photograph of the ironically named
Liberty Jail, in Missouri

The Interpreter Foundation’s thirty-second (32nd) scripture roundtable, focused on Lesson 28 in the 2013 Gospel Doctrine manual, is now up.  It features Lincoln Hale, Cassandra Hedelius, Andrew Smith, and Stephen Smoot.

Some of the highlights include

  • The historical setting for Doctrine and Covenants 121, 122, 123: Joseph Smith in Liberty Jail and the tensions surrounding the “Mormon War” of 1838
  • Discussion of Latter-day Saint theodicy as presented in those sections
  • This life as a time for us to gain experience, even and especially when that is hard, in order to make us more empathetic and Godlike.
