My Current Schedule of Firesides, Presentations, and Lectures

A week from this coming Thursday

Here’s the most up-to-date information on my current schedule of public lectures (i.e., it doesn’t include university and church classes).  There are some other potential speaking engagements that are under consideration, as well.

Thursday, 19 September 2013

“Hearing Cosmic Harmony Again”

Annual Summerhays Lecture on Science and Religion

College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Brigham Young University

7 PM, Joseph Smith Building Auditorium

https://cpms.byu.edu/about/speeches-and-lectures/summerhays-lecture/

A relatively short podcast interview with me regarding my plans for this lecture can be heard at the site to which I’ve just given the link.

Friday, 11 October 2013

St. Louis Chapter of the BYU Alumni Association

“The Middle East”

Saturday, 12 October 2013

Kansas City Chapter of the BYU Alumni Association

Topic in flux. (Probably “The Middle East.”)

Saturday, 19 October 2013

“Two Books from Angels: Comparing the Qur’an and the Book of Mormon”

Keynote address, Book of Mormon Archaeological Forum

http://www.bmaf.org

Utah Valley Convention Center, Provo, Utah

Thursday evening, 31 October 2013 – Saturday afternoon, 2 November 2013

Tenth annual meeting of the Society for Mormon Philosophy and Theology

Utah Valley University, Orem, Utah

I’m not sure what my specific involvement will be, but, as I’m the current president of the Society, I expect that I’ll be involved.

Saturday, 9 November 2013

“Science and Mormonism: Cosmos, Earth, and Man”

A conference organized and sponsored by The Interpreter Foundation

http://www.mormoninterpreter.com/venue-announced-and-registration-open-for-science-mormonism-symposium/

Utah Valley Convention Center, Provo, Utah

I’m not sure what my specific involvement will be, but, as I’m the chairman of The Interpreter Foundation, I expect that I’ll be involved.

Friday or Saturday, 22-23 November 2013

Paper on Qadi ‘Abd al-Jabbar’s Critique of Christian Origins

Sixth annual meeting of the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa

Key Bridge Marriott Hotel, Washington DC

(The conference schedule hasn’t yet been issued, so I can’t yet narrow down a specific date and time.  Incidentally, though, I’ll probably be staying through Sunday, so — and I realize that this sounds perilously close to self-promotion — there is a chance that I could do a fireside or something of that sort in the DC area that night, if somebody there reads this and cares.)

Friday, 31 January 2014

Lecture for the local chapter of the BYU Alumni Association

Tallahassee, Florida

If possible, it’d be lovely if you could record the BMAF address on Oct. 19 about “Two Books from Angels.” (Well, and all the other addresses, too, but I’m trying to moderate myself.)

I don’t know what their policy on recording is or will be, but I certainly intend to publish the thing somewhere.
