It’s difficult for me to imagine on what basis the murderers who carry out such outrages believe that they’re acting in accordance with Islam.  But I suspect that that’s precisely what they believe.

The rest of the Muslim world — and certainly the Muslim community in America and the West — needs to speak out, loudly and clearly, against such belief and such acts.  Their condemnation needs to become a roar of outrage.

 

Will it?

 

It’s not only the lives of Christians that are at stake.  The future of Islam itself is in the balance.
