Two American Muslims (and an anti-Nazi clergyman) respond to the execrable Donald Trump November 25, 2015

Der Judenstern
There is precedent in Europe — though not in the United States, where it would be blatantly unconstitutional — for government-required special identification to be worn or carried by designated religious/ethnic groups. The Judenstern or “Jewish Star,” for example, was required by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party government of Chancellor Adolf Hitler, because Jews were seen as posing a special threat to the German people.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

(Pastor Martin Niemöller)
