I’m simultaneously delighted and dismayed to report that Jeff Bradshaw, the Interpreter Foundation’s to-this-point indispensable vice president, has been called with his wife to serve the Lord, commencing this summer, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Kinshasa Mission.
Jeff intends to continue his involvement with Interpreter, but, very plainly, it will be at a reduced level of intensity for the next while.
Those of us who have been content to depend upon his remarkable (and remarkably competent) dedication will now be obliged to up our game, to lengthen our stride. And we hope that more still will join us to help.
Jeff and his wife are and will be in our prayers. This will be a remarkable adventure for them. It will be especially so as Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is scheduled to break ground on Friday, in just two days, for a small temple in Kinshasa. What a fabulous time to be there! The Bradshaws have a marvelous opportunity for growth and to serve both the Latter-day Saints and those of other faiths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
They will be following the teaching of King Benjamin, that “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 2:17).
We wish them well, even though their departure for Africa will leave a void that Interpreter, certainly, will feel very keenly.
