Australia is Officially Becoming a Scary Place for Christians

Australia is Officially Becoming a Scary Place for Christians October 1, 2015

I have always thought that my country of Australia was a tolerant place for people of all faiths and none. However, two recent events in the last 48 hours have convinced me that this might no longer be the case as the political left is flexing its muscle to gag and persecute Christians who publicly express views contrary to left-wing orthodoxy.

First, American pro-life campaigner Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, was due to speak at Right to Life Australia, yet had his visa cancelled at Denver airport due to a petition to disallow him entry to Australia on the grounds that he has previously said that doctors who perform abortions should be tried and executed. He managed to get on a flight to Australia, but is currently being detained at Melbourne Airport by Australian border force until he is deported. You can read the details at the Australia Bible Society and ABC News.

Second, the Catholic Archbishop of Tasmania, is facing legal faction for distributing a book to the parents of children in Catholic schools asserting that marriage should be between one man and one woman and ironically that opponents of same sex marriage will be persecuted. The complainant is Greens political candidate Martine Delaney who claims that “some freedoms are not absolute, and that in a secular society religious freedom must sometimes give way to the law.” Read further news at the Australian Bible Society and ABC News.

You can watch ++Julian Porteous’ response to the accusations in the video below:

So pray for Australingrad, I mean, Australia.
