After Paris is it Time to re-colonize the Failed States of the Arab Muslim World?

In light of the latest massacre in France the day is fast approaching when the rest of the world — Europe, the United States, Russia and China may be forced to re-colonize the failed Arab/Muslim world.

George W Bush with his criminal and ill-conceived wars further destabilized an already failed Arab/Muslim civilization. But noting that it’s “our fault” as liberals (like me) are want to do, isn’t the point now.  

Yes, the neoconservatives made ISIS. Knowing this accomplishes nothing. 

Sure we’re guilty as hell — but what now?

What happened in Paris originated with the Saudi Arabian royal family and their brand of harsh radical backward Islam. Their return to the Dark Ages was funded with petrodollars. They’ve been kept in power by allowing their fundamentalist clerics free range and the money earned from Big Oil has given these cleric/fascists the ability to spread their Islamist poison worldwide. ISIS is their bastard child.

As Karen Armstrong notes in “Wahhabism to ISIS: how Saudi Arabia exported the main source of global terrorism” (New Statesman 27 Nov 2014)

Yet although ISIS is certainly an Islamic movement, it is neither typical nor mired in the distant past, because its roots are in Wahhabism, a form of Islam practised in Saudi Arabia that developed only in the 18th century.

Then we elected a fool for president as a result of the Republican Party being taken over by our own backward fundamentalists and right wing reactionaries, evangelicals and others. Bush went to war to bring “freedom” and “democracy” to failed states with no moral or philosophical framework to even understand those words. Dream on.

What happened in Paris is going to keep happening all over the world and is happening as we speak.

Knowing the Saudis and the USA are to “blame” solves nothing.

It’s time to tell the truth about the Saudi-dominated Islamic world. Arab civilization is in ruins. It is a threat.

A few more attacks like the one in Paris — and a few more million refugees pouring into Europe — and the rest of us are going to follow Russia’s lead and begin to find and then prop up brutal dictators who can suppress their failed states while we look the other way.

This will be our form of recolonizing the Arab Islamic world. It’s going to happen.

It turns out that “democracy” isn’t magic. There was no “Arab Spring.”

And anyone who thinks we are in a new world where Twitter, Google and YouTube are going to somehow magically connect humanity in a “new way” that makes things better is deluded. So far the only people using this new tech effectively are the ISIS recruiters.

It’s the Middle Ages again folks, not the “21st Century.’

Liberals and progressives won’t like the recolonization of the Arab world but until someone figures out what to “do” about the Saudi fundamentalist Islam that’s dominating failed states and failed societies — all bets are off.

There’s a Vladimir Putin in all our futures. Get used to it.
