Jesus (or C.S. Lewis) could have Saved Donald Trump from Going Down in History as a Loser/Joke– Too Bad Trump Never Read the BIBLE or the Chronicles of Narnia! April 5, 2016

Trump could have avoided being branded forever as a joke and loser, in short an ass, if he’d read the Bible or The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis.

Jesus warned Trump. So did C.S Lewis. They told him not to be a spoiled egomaniac who can’t stand losing, let alone court the public humiliation that forever will stamp Trump and all those who voted for him as a confirmed “loser.”  Trump didn’t listen to Jesus or Lewis.

Clearly, Trump is in way over his head. Jesus could have saved him from all this. Trump is unqualified even to finish the primary season without adding more mortal wounds to his self-inflated ego.

As Robert Becker writes in Salon:

[Maybe] Trump never really wanted to be president… [I cite for] support, the ex-Trump Super PAC chief and communications expert, Stephanie Cegielski, confirming what many initially believed: Trump never dreamed his prospects would soar, nor that his worn out “Birther-anti-immigration-bomb-them-into-smithereens” schtick would mesh so perfectly with an irate third of the right-wing dying to yell “Screw You” (or worse) to the hated GOP entrenchment:

Even Trump’s most trusted advisors didn’t expect him to fare this well ” the goal was to get The Donald to poll in double digits and come in second in delegate count. That was it. … I don’t think even Trump thought he would get this far. … He certainly was never prepared or equipped to go all the way to the White House, but his ego has now taken over the driver’s seat, and nothing else matters. The Donald does not fail. The Donald does not have any weakness. The Donald is his own biggest enemy…. The hard truth is: Trump only cares about Trump.

In the Beatitudes with which the Sermon on the Mount opens, Jesus says: “Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.”

Trump never heard that it’s to the poor, who have nothing in themselves, that the kingdom comes.

Learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly of heart, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Jesus offers lowliness. Humility is to be our salvation says Jesus.

He set a child in their midst, and said, “Whosoever shall humble himself as this little child, shall be exalted” “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

The chief glory of heaven is also the chief of graces: humility. “He that is least among you, the same shall be great.”

Humility is the only mark of Christ. Humiliation is the only ladder to honor in Jesus’ kingdom.

Jesus fortold the fate that awaits Trump who will now go down in history as the biggest loser American politics ever produced, in fact a fool. Jesus spoke the parable of the guest who would be invited to come up higher (Luke xiv. 1-u), and added, “for whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

If Trump didn’t want to read the Bible to learn how to avoid being branded forever a fool, looser and joke he should have read “The Horse and His Boy” by CS Lewis and learned from the fate of Prince Rabadash.

Rabadash is the heir to the throne of Calormen, being the eldest son of the Tisroc. In The Horse and His Boy, he attempts to conquer Archenland, the neighboring country of Narnia, but is thwarted by King Edmund and Queen Lucy of Narnia, with help from a boy named Shasta.

Rabadash is punished for his arrogance and hubris by forever being made a fool of— he’s turned into a donkey, a literal ass. The Rabadash fate is overtaking Trump and for the same reason: he did not listen to the age old wisdom of humility. The demand of history is inexorable; there is no other way. Self abasement alone will be exalted.

After the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican, Christ spoke again (Luke xviii. 14), “Every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

In the temple and presence and worship of God, everything is worthless that is not pervaded by deep, true humility towards God and men. At the end of The Horse and His Boy, Aslan gives Rabadash a chance to repent. But Raba-Trump must humble himself and say he’s sorry.

When Rabadash refuses and begins ranting, Aslan transforms him into an ass. Rabadash like Trump, says he’d rather die than be made a fool to forever be mocked. He could have avoided this fate by a simple apology.

After washing the disciples’ feet, Jesus said (John xiii. 14),If I, then, the Lord and Master, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another s feet.”

The authority of command and example, every thought, either of obedience or conformity, make humility the first and most essential element of life.

Trump is suffering Rabadash’s fate as I write this. He is self-destructing because ego always does. Trump only believes in Trump, he is living proof that the Bible has it right: “Like a dog that returns to its vomit Is a fool who repeats his folly. Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him” (Proverbs 26, 11-12).

Here are some of the final steps as we watch the man Trump turn into one of history’s biggest jokes, in sum an ass:

  • Inventing a Cruz ambush on his wife (zero evidence), like a dog that returns to its vomit Trump crudely attacks Ted’s wife for not being as pretty or sexy as his ex-model wife…
  • Despite blatant rally video evidence, plus indictment of his campaign manager for battery, like a dog that returns to its vomit Trump first denies anything happened, then trivializes grossly inappropriate man-handling of a known reporter…
  • Like a dog that returns to its vomit Trump pumps out an even greater barrage with reckless nuclear saber-rattling, threatening to nuke unnamed, unknown enemies…
  • That worsens earlier “war crime” threats he’d approve murdering civilian, terrorist families…
  • Like a dog that returns to its vomit Trump declares women should be punished were they to violate laws that don’t and won’t ever exist. So now getting some back alley abortions invites criminal indictments?

These are genuine, self-inflicted body blows, the blows a Rabadash/Trump fool who is wise only in his own eyes inflicts.

Trump is committing suicide in front of us, he’s living proof that we ignore the Bible at our peril. Our egos make asses of us all.
