Ephesians 2: By Grace Through Faith

Ephesians 2: By Grace Through Faith August 26, 2011

“8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9

The number one question about salvation is how to obtain it. Every religion of the world includes a mechanism or ritual to obtain right standing or preparation for the afterlife. Christianity is unique in one key respect–our salvation is based on what God has done, not what we do.

Paul made this clear in Ephesians 2: “…by grace…through faith…not from yourselves…it is the gift of God…not by works.” We do nothing to earn it. Even our faith would never originate apart from God’s grace drawing us to himself.

When others teach a list of do’s and don’ts to get to heaven, remember “by grace…through faith.” When you are personally tempted to think, “I’m not good enough. God will never accept me,” do not believe the lie. God loves you and accepts you by face.

His grace is sufficient.
