“1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.” -1 Peter 4:1-2
It’s easy to choose our own way; it’s much more difficult to choose God’s will. Even after becoming a follower of Christ, the temptation is to take the way that is easiest or personally the most fulfilling.
Yet those who follow Jesus have been called to a different way of living–living for God. As Peter wrote, we do not live the rest of our earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. Instead of asking, “What’s in it for me?” we ask, “What does God want?”
