Hey, Look! Point, Click and Pray With Our Bishops

HEY LOOKIE!  Over on the right side of this page!

There is an ad featured prominently on Patheos this week that I’m particularly proud to support. It’s an invitation from your bishop—from all of the bishops of the United States, in fact—to stand with them in prayer to end abortion.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops have called upon all people of faith to participate in “Nine Days of Prayer, Penance and Pilgrimage” from January 19-27, 2013. 

Since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land 40 years ago, more than 55 million unborn children have been executed in their mothers’ wombs.  Mothers’ and fathers’ lives have been impacted, as well, as later they come to realize the great loss which has come about by this act of their own wills.

The USCCB’s website contains helpful resources including prayers, a novena, youth and young adult activities.  There is a video contest, and a nine-day novena.  You can obtain reminders by email, or can text “9days” to 99000 to receive daily text messages.

With more than 77 million registered members, the Catholic Church encompasses fully 25% of the population of the United States.  Together, we can chart a new course for America.

May our prayers rise as a mighty witness to God, and may He grant us the desires of our hearts.  May our nation once again stand up in support of Life, and may we as a nation embrace God’s most precious of gifts, our children.
