In addition to being the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, today marks the start of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. I personally have anticipated this great event because, in helping others heal from divorce, mercy is a key component of what I do. Thanks to Pope Francis, now there is even more reason to promote this theme in our troubled society and witness the many graces and blessings that will take place.

I’d like to begin by asking you two questions: Who in your life needs your mercy? From whom do you need to receive mercy?

These questions can provide a lot of fruitful reflection and motivation. Sometimes the people that are the most difficult to show mercy to are the ones closest to us. Sometimes, we are the ones who need mercy the most. No matter how you answer those questions, know you are not alone in this mission to be merciful. There are many people out there who are pulling out all the stops to offer video, audio, and printable resources so you can have an amazing year. Here is a sampling of what is out there and available:

The Wild Goose Series

Featuring author, speaker and pilgrimage guide Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, this beautifully filmed 14-video series will inspire you in powerful ways. There are fourteen different videos all dealing with different encounters with the Holy Spirit. I’ve watched the first one and it is just as rich in content as it is beautiful to watch.

From the website:

The Wild Goose was a term that the ancient Celts had for the Holy Spirit … The Wild Goose Project is a simple attempt to invite Catholic Christians into a more profound life giving relationship with the Holy Spirit. This is a relationship marked by the love of God which breathes life into our daily existence. The Holy Spirit is not merely something relegated to Confirmation but the Spirit desires a relationship with us that will take us on the greatest adventure imaginable; a journey to the very Heart of God. The Holy Spirit desires to be present to us in a manner that brings light out of darkness, freedom out of bondage, order out of chaos and life out of death.

Such is the power of the Wild Goose.

Mercy Unwrapped with Kristine Franklin

Pope Francis has asked us all to be workers in the battlefield, bringing the wounded back to the field hospital that is the Church, and Kristine Franklin is rolling up her sleeves and getting out there with her podcast series, Mercy Unwrapped. Each new weekly podcast features a Catholic who discusses moving experiences of grace and mercy in their lives and we hear some amazing stories from many well-known authors and speakers like Mark Shea, Jennifer Fulweiler, Lani Bogart, Becky Greene, Heidi Hess Saxton, Melissa Overseer, Devin Rose, Michele Faehnle, Dawn Eden and myself. I was pleased to chat with Kristine and share some very personal, but very powerful stories with her.

Each week, a new podcast will be offered, so make sure you bookmark her website. You can listen to the very first one right now.

The “Faces of Mercy” 2016 Catholic Conference 4 Moms

Tami Kiser, author of SmartMartha’s Catholic Guide For Busy Moms and owner of SmartMartha.Com, is presenting a special online conference titled, The Faces of Mercy, and it particularly caters to moms. Her first online conference held earlier this year was amazingly successful and this one proves to be just as outstanding. The conference will feature powerful talks from today’s prominent Catholic speakers such as former atheist Jennifer Fulweiler, prolife powerhouse Father Frank Pavone, popular author Mike Aquilina, radio host Elizabeth Reardon, and many more, including yours truly and I’ll be addressing the issue of “Mercy in the Midst of Divorce.”

This conference is brilliantly designed to meet the needs of Catholic moms in two ways: first, so that individuals who are unable to attend a conference away from home can listen to the talks and have a day of reflection while still meeting their families needs. But Mom’s groups or parishes can use the presentations to put together their own simple conference/retreat/mom’s day out.

Registered attendees will have 24/7 access beginning February 20th throughout all of Lent 2016. There will be a live-streamed session Saturday morning featuring Jennifer Fulwiler and a live-streamed session Saturday afternoon of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

There will also be a Spanish track for those who prefer it and what would be a conference without takeaways? Tami is offering a valuable digital swag bags for all online attendees. I encourage you to visit her site and find out more. Here is a sneak peak:
