Another reason I love my parish… September 17, 2012

…is that it has awesome people who go there, such as our friends the Dziekonskis, who are professional musicians. They have played on a bunch of film and TV scores (I once got to watch them and a huge orchestra recording the score for the “Battlestar Galactica” reboot). And they play for lots of symphonys and other events around town and around the country. A couple of years ago, we got an invite to come to Teatro Zinzanni, for which Tom plays a regular gig as a violinist. We took the guys, who asked in that that “Is this going to be one of those eat your educational broccoli?” tones of voice whether they should bring books to keep them occupied while we are enjoying boring grownup thing. We assured them that if they were bored, they would need to have their pulse check. A little taste of Teatro awesomeness is here:

Anyway, today Pete got invited by Lana, the daughter of the Dziekonskis and a gifted musician in her own right to come to this extremely cool event, where mom and dad were playing.

Pete just came back raving. What jolly fun!

Me: I went swimming in Lake Ballinger with Luke the Nordic Giant for probably the last time this summer. Also a worthwhile endeavor.
