A Powerful Enemy is Killing Our Troops

That’s because our troops and their families are being subjected to an intolerable strain by a Ruling Class that treats them like crap and a populace that never gives them a thought while they bear the burden of maintaining an Empire for immensely powerful people who could not care less about them.

The answer to this is to bring them Home.  It is also to pay them a just wage (did you know that troops are on food stamps because our filthy, disgusting Ruling Class does not pay them enough to support their families, nor provide them the benefits they need, all while they put their lives on the line for the rest of us?)

Of course, being technocratic postmoderns blind to what is human, what our Ruling Class is doing is not observing this common sense, but instead trying to cook up a chemical fix that will allow them to keep putting our troops and their families under intolerable strain. So in addition to everything else, they are using our troops as lab rats for some anti-depressant.

I think that for every military suicide, a member of Congress should be chosen (beginning with the most powerful and richest members), stripped of all earnings beyond the base minimum salary of a Congressoid for the rest of his or her life, and that money and all future income given in perpetuity to the surviving family members.  The Congressoid should also be required to dig that man’s grave with his or her own hands, and to go to the victim’s home and clean their toilet once a week for the rest of his or her life.  If the victim’s parents, widow or children wish to spit in his or her face, they should be immune from assault prosecution.

This relates also to your post about us being a “Paris Hilton People in an Apocalyptic World,” but did you read the last two lines from the linked article about using our soldiers as lab rats?

“While the suicide rate is increasing in the military, it is also an increasing concern in the US civilian population. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 18 and 65 years. Every day, more than 100 Americans take their own life”

    • Naomi

I think that’s a comment on how hopeless a lot of people are because of the depravity of a culture of instant gratification, self-gratification, and relativism and how they affect overall happiness and the ability to search for the real truth.

    • The last I checked on the suicide stats, the concern was that the military suicide rate was rising to approach the civilian rate. Generally when you’re scrambling for bodies to fill recruitment quotas standards slip and the superior statistics you can shoot for in peacetime fade away. The effect of war stress may be very real but you have to adjust for the changing population over time to be scientific about the whole thing. As we dial down the wars, the population will be changing again and then the adjustments need to be applied as correction in the other direction.

The last time I read this story it was about police officers, not soldiers. It was in USA Today and committed the elementary mistake of comparing the suicide rate among police with the suicide rate in the general populace without regard to the fact that suicide is much more common among young males than among older males, children, or women. The article linked to here avoids that mistake by never speaking of suicide rates at all, and does not even accidentally provide the information needed to estimate it. Proportion of total death is mentioned and was perhaps intended to be mistaken for a suicide rate; but this would be like mistaking the percentage of murders committed by a black man with the percentage of black men who have committed murder.

In the Game of Thrones book and TV series, it is the rule that the judge who orders the execution must also be the one who carries it out.

I think war would be far less frequent, if the rulers and politicians who support a war, also had to be the ones (and their families) on the front line carrying it out.

      Absolutely James.

The number of “tough guys” who lead and beat the war drums who STUDIOUSLY avoided serving in the military themselves, especially during Vietnam is appalling. Most of these punks in Congress & in W’s White House are chickenhawks, draft & service dodgers. John McCain is most unusual as he is a veteran in Congress and he’s a war hawk. But agree or disagree w him, McCain suffered for his country & earned his right to be a war hawk. Not some the vast number of lick spittles in Congress, think tanks & the media.

      • I suspect that you would very much not like government by veteran. The only person I’ve seen treat the possibility in any depth was Heinlein in Starship Troopers.
