As our Culture Re-Paganizes

it gets harder and harder for our Ruling Class to make fine distinctions between things like “terrorists” and “Christians”.  The Romans had similar difficulties.

I’m not quite sure why Dancing With The Stars is so frequently used as an example of what is wrong with American culture that needs to be given up. For technically inclined social dancers or lower level competitors it can be a way of picking up some tips and a new move or two. For those like me who are just average social dancers, it can provide occasional inspiration. When I was growing up, the Catholic schools promoted and sponsored social dancing to a far greater extent than today and in my opinion, that was a good thing.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with ballroom dancing, just that there is so much unimportant “news” out there (omg Lindsey Lohan dyed her hair! Look, Kim K. is actually finally wearing maternity clothes), it distracts from God and the important things happening in this world.

There is always opportunities to support your family, friends, and those you do not know. We must move forward with a positive message and strong support.

  • Marthe Lépine

And sometimes the positive message does not even need words. I have a friend who is an atheist and a trans-gender man, but he is also rather handicapped by a bad health, and he is quite capable of making a distinction between Christians who just talk about it and Christians who live it (as he told me himself). And in that case, I think that in some way, the 2nd group will be the ones who will eventually reach him for the Lord.

Oh, you mean a woman. Why didn’t you say so?

    Mr. Shea,

I enjoy your blog, but: really? Paganism? Please see Lewis’s “A Cliche Came Out of Its Cage”.

You said ‘The world is going back to Paganism’.
    Oh bright Vision! …

I only wish your comment was true; if we could again recall the glory of paganism, the empire might again convert. But I am not so hopeful.

Relax, the gates of hell shall not prevail. No matter what the world throws at us, it won’t work.

      • Dean

I’ve often wondered about the Gates of Hell not prevailing when it is used to say that the Church will survive some attack.
        Gates are static and defensive.
Could it instead mean we are supposed to storm the gates and they will not stand?

“gates of hell” is a literal translation of a semitic (i.e. from semite zone, not hebraic) expression meaning something like “seat of power”, “pinnacle of power”; surely it has something to do with ancient practices, now forgotten in the mists of time. So it would mean “the strongest power from hell”.
