Dear Obama Supporter

In addition to the filthy chamber of horrors abortion supporters have been studiously protecting and lying about, you also bear full responsibility for this:

ONE man here weighs just 77 pounds. Another, 98. Last thing I knew, I weighed 132, but that was a month ago.

I’ve been on a hunger strike since Feb. 10 and have lost well over 30 pounds. I will not eat until they restore my dignity.

I’ve been detained at Guantánamo for 11 years and three months. I have never been charged with any crime. I have never received a trial.

Yep, as Obama is fond of saying as he shirks responsibility, Bush started it.  But guess what.  Your man is on his second term and he could have ended this on January 20, 2009.  He has not only refused to do so, he has voted himself the power to indefinitely detain and murder anybody he likes.

So: own this, Obama supporter.  You are the one who chose to support this.  You.

But only YOU can prevent forest fires.

Hey, it’s not his fault if they don’t want to eat. /snark

Awful. I hope the example of Pope Francis and how he sees Christ in prisoners will open the eyes of our president and his supporters.

Ever heard of a POW camp? The U.S. had quite a few POW camps where German and Japanese soldiers were held until the end of WWII. It’s the same thing with Guantanamo Bay. The hunger strike is not being forced upon the detainees. They’re starving themselves of their own free will.

Gauntanamo detainees were caught on the battlefield and sent to POW camps, not for committing crimes, but to take them off the battlefield and prevent them from further fighting for the duration of the war.

I think Dunham’s “Peanut” said it best:

Except they aren’t POWs. The Cheney Regency refused to grant them any status under Geneva, calling them “unlawful enemy combatants” in order to justify their brutalization and torture. The current administration continues the attempt to try these prisoners in rigged military tribunals using evidence extracted through torture, secretly monitoring communications between prisoners and their military-appointed attorneys.

Guantanamo, wars of aggression, shredding of civil liberties and the Constitution? That’s only wrong when Republicans do it.

You see, Obama has a “(D)” after his name. That totally baptizes everything he does in the waters of goodness. Sheesh Mark, you didn’t know that?

  • Imp the Vladaler

Responsible for inhumane treatment of prisoners? Yes.

Responsible for the choice of a free moral agents to refuse to eat? No.

At the same time, I would take anything that Osama bin Laden’s bodyguard says, in the New York Times no less, with a few hundred grains of salt: http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/041613-652127-media-ginning-up-sympathy-for-gitmo-enemy.htm?ref=SeeAlso
