Hey Bay Area Catholics!

Fr. Michael Dodds, OP, has recently published a book titled Unlocking Divine Action: Contemporary Science and Thomas Aquinas. Given all that science now explains about nature, some ask whether there is really any “room” for God to act in the world. This book explores that question in light of the discoveries of contemporary science which have opened new ways for talking about causality that echo the teachings of Thomas Aquinas and invite a retrieval of his thought. Investigating these new avenues, the book discusses such topics as Providence, prayer and miracles. The Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley will celebrate a book launch on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 PM. See the link for more info.

Doesn’t “invite a retrieval of his thought” imply that this hasn’t been done before, or done for a while? And yet all conservative catholic philosophers have done for past 200 years is retrieve Aquinas. Why not try a little Duns Scotus for once?

When we’re finished with St. Thomas, we’ll start on Duns Scotus. ;-)
