Just one illustration among many…

of why Dominicans are awesome. Secular culture’s “Do whatever you like as long as you don’t hurt anybody” ethos boils down, in practice, to “Screw people and dump them for the new trophy wife or the Eat Pray Love Journey of self-discovery. You need to do what you need to do for you. And the kid is resilient. Don’t worry about her.”

Meanwhile:

the just man justices;
Kéeps gráce: thát keeps all his goings graces;
Acts in God’s eye what in God’s eye he is—
Chríst—for Christ plays in ten thousand places,
Lovely in limbs, and lovely in eyes not his
To the Father through the features of men’s faces.

Secular libertarian morals is to Christian charity what tofu is to prime rib.

    The article you linked to brought tears to my eyes. I would want each of us to find ways to support those who are easily forgotten. It amy be the families n poverty, it might be the individuals in jail, it might be the homeless, it might be the ill or t might be the disabled. We as a church need to reclaim this as our purpose – I really believe that if we do many other issues within the church will fall by the wayside.

    You keep using that word ‘libertarian’….I do not think it means what you think it means.

      I could have been the Walrus, I still wouldn’t have a car!

      The problem isn’t what libertarians are- it is what libertarians *become* once they have enough money to ignore the values of libertarianism.

    Not just an awesome Dominican writer, but a picture with Dorothy Day, who was a Benedictine oblate, and Mother Theresa.
